Employee Volunteering was founded in 2006 by Dewi Thomas, who recognised a growing gap between intention and impact in corporate volunteering.
Drawing on his early experience leading purpose-driven initiatives including working with the UK Sailing Academy to restore Gypsy Moth IV and coordinating a global voyage for disadvantaged young people Dewi saw first-hand how powerful collective action could be when it was well organised. He also saw that without structure, even the strongest goodwill struggled to create lasting results.
At the time, businesses wanted to support their communities, employees were eager to contribute, and charities needed meaningful help but there was no professional framework to connect them effectively. Employee Volunteering was created to bring structure, facilitation and long-term partnership into the process, transforming informal volunteering into purposeful, expertly managed programmes that deliver measurable social, cultural and business outcomes
Employee Volunteering works with businesses to deliver high-impact volunteering programmes aligned to company purpose, values and the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
For more than twenty years, we have helped organisations turn goodwill into structured, measurable and sustainable impact.
We are the go-to partner for expertly facilitated volunteer programmes, genuinely valuable for charities and measurable for business.
Corporate volunteering did not begin as a formal discipline. It began with a simple challenge:
Without structure, even the best intentions struggle to scale.
Employee Volunteering was founded in 2006 to solve that problem, to make business volunteering organised, purposeful and impactful.
Today, volunteering is no longer a side initiative. It is part of how organisations demonstrate purpose, strengthen culture and deliver social value. Our role is to make it work for everyone involved.
Employee Volunteering scopes, designs and manages high-impact volunteering programmes tailored to company culture and strategic priorities.
We deliver:
All programmes are delivered and managed through our specialist volunteering platform, The Volunteering Hub, supported by trained facilitators who ensure quality, safety and meaningful outcomes.
Over two decades, we have learned that impactful volunteering depends on:
Impact depends on programme design not just enthusiasm. We align volunteering with your business objectives, values and ESG commitments.
Our trained facilitators ensure experiences are safe, inclusive, well-managed and genuinely valuable for charities and volunteers alike.
We build trusted, sustained relationships with charities to ensure volunteering reduces pressure rather than creating it.
We move beyond counting hours to demonstrate clear social, cultural and business outcomes.
We remove the operational burden from businesses and charities, so everyone can focus on making a meaningful difference.
Employee Volunteering brings:
As programmes grow, complexity grows with them. We bring the structure, systems and experience needed to deliver volunteering confidently and consistently whether across a single team or a global workforce.
Through sustained, needs-led support that builds capability, not dependency.
By reducing administrative burden and delivering skilled, relevant support.
By unlocking purpose, collaboration, leadership and engagement beyond formal roles.
By aligning volunteering to ESG, culture, social value and long-term strategy.
Working with us will help create successful volunteering programmes that have a long-lasting impact on your organisation.
By the end of 2025, we have achieved some great results.

Over twenty years, one lesson remains constant:
Volunteering works best when it is built deliberately, sustained consistently and aligned with intent.
The most successful programmes are not campaigns. They are commitments.
They ask:
We help organisations answer those questions and design programmes that live up to them.
Corporate volunteering has matured. Expectations have risen. Impact must now be clear, credible and sustained.
Employee Volunteering exists to meet that standard.
